Get To Know Good Harbor Vineyards’ 2023 Select Cuvée

Bottle of Good Harbor Wine made in Lake Leelanau, MIJoining our line of award-winning sparkling wines this summer is the Good Harbor Vineyards’ 2023 Select Cuvée! This limited-production bubbly is produced with 100% Pinot Meunier.

Pinot Meunier is widely planted in France’s northern wine-growing region, specifically the Champagne region. Due to its richness and body, Pinot Meunier is one of the three major grape varieties used to produce champagne. The other varieties widely used are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Outside of Champagne, plantings can be found in Germany, England, several areas in the United States including the Leelanau Peninsula, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, and New Zealand.

Pinot Meunier is a high-acid grape that produces lighter and fruitier wines and thrives in cool-climate growing regions. The higher acidity of Pinot Meunier makes it an excellent variety to produce sparkling wine.  The Leelanau Peninsula is an ideal region to for the variety to grow because of the moderating effect that Lake Michigan has on the temperatures of the area.

The Good Harbor Vineyards 2023 Select Cuvée is produced using the first crop from our Pinot Meunier vines. This wine is unique to Good Harbor Vineyards as not many wineries offer a bubbly version of this varietal in the area. The Select Cuvée is a fresh hand bright bubbly that highlights the delicate nuances that come from the lesser-known variety of the Pinot family.
